Pacific Reef Egret

Latin Name : Egretta sacra

Site Name : Sutera Harbour

Photographer : PHILLIPPS, Quentin

Date : 2008-12-00

Notes : On the Kota Kinabalu sea-front between Kampong Tg Aru and Sutera Harbour egrets and terns gather every day to feed on taufu (bean curd) scraps that flow out to the sea from a drainage ditch. Most commom are the Great Egrets but there is often a Reef Egret as well as Cattle Egrets and Little Egrets. This photo shows a young dark morph Reef Egret in front of a Cattle Egret with a damaged wing. There is a Great Egret in the background.
