Red-legged Crake

Latin Name : Rallina fasciata

Site Name : HQ, Kinabalu Park

Photographer : CHANG, Alven

Date : 2016-07-04

Notes :
Found dead on the road side near KNP Park Head Quarters building. Last recorded in KNP in January 1987, which was suspected to be a migrant. Considering the time of year, this could very well be a resident bird. This species was also recorded at an elevation of 915 m in 1986.
Thus, in addition to what are generally regarded as their usual habitats in lowland river-banks, paddy fields and swamps, This scarce species might inhabit montane environments in Borneo as well. --TSWong--
